Another Detroit Lions Franchise Record About to Be Broken

It seems we’ve entered a stretch where a Detroit Lions franchise record is falling on a weekly basis. Two weeks ago it was Calvin Johnson passing Herman Moore on the franchise’s all-time receiving touchdown list. Last week it was Matthew Stafford supplanting Bobby Layne as their all-time leading passer.

Get ready, another record is about to fall.

Once again, Calvin Johnson is the man to watch. He is just 255 yards behind Herman Moore’s franchise record for receiving yards in a career. With a 329 yard game already to his credit this season, we’ve officially entered the record watch window.

Johnson will play his 102nd career game on Sunday while Moore’s receiving yards total went up over the course of 145 career games as a Lion. Calvin reached the 1,000 yard mark for the fifth time this season while Moore had four 1,000 yard seasons.

Barry Sanders can probably rest easy. His franchise rushing record is still 14,529 yards ahead of Joique Bell and 14,615 yards ahead of Reggie Bush‘s Lions total.
