While many fans had high hopes for the Detroit Lions before the season began, I’m not sure how many expected them to be favorites for their mid-November trip to Heinz Field to take on the Pittsburgh Steelers. Honest fans probably marked this one down as a loss when they played the “schedule game” when the schedule was announced last spring.
Well, mid-November has arrived and the first place Detroit Lions will take on the last place Pittsburgh Steelers. How does that sound?
The Steelers will be taking on their third NFC North opponent of the year, having lost at home to the Chicago Bears in week three and in London to the Minnesota Vikings in week four.
Wherever you look, you’ll find the Lions listed as favorites. The simple rating system at Pro-Football-Reference.com likes the Lions by almost a touchdown. The Sagarin ratings like the Lions by a little over two. The Massey ratings have the Lions giving the Steelers 3.5.
And of course there is Vegas and sites online places where you don’t have to risk real money. Here is a look at the kind of action they are offering on Sunday’s game.
Against the spread
Lions -2.5 (-110)
Steelers +2.5 (-110)
Over 47 (-110)
Under 47 (-110)
