For the Detroit Lions, the bye week came at the midpoint of the season. For the SLR staff, it presented a great opportunity to give away some midseason awards.

Each staff writer got three votes in each category, but were not required to use every vote. A first place vote got three points, second place two, and third place one. Votes were tallied in each of the following categories:

Offensive Player of the Year
Defensive Player of the Year
Rookie of the Year
Most Improved Player
Biggest Surprise
Biggest Disappointment
Game of the Year
