Detroit Lions 20, Dallas Cowboys 17 (overtime)

The regular season stage doesn’t get much bigger than an early season matchup against the two-time defending Super Bowl champions on Monday Night Football. The 2-0 Cowboys were heavy favorites but they lost three fumbles and couldn’t contain Barry Sanders at all. Sanders finished with 40 carries for 194 yards and helped to open up the passing game for touchdowns to Brett Perriman and Herman Moore. The Cowboys scored the final ten points of regulation to force overtime but Jason Hanson connected from 44-yards out to win it for the Lions.
