Detroit Lions Added to History of Memorable Wins Over Dallas Cowboys

The Detroit Lions’ thrilling win over the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday was a great game as is. However, it is interesting to note that it was just the latest chapter in what is becoming a rather compelling book.

The Lions have still lost to the Cowboys more than they’ve beaten them but a number of the wins have been particularly memorable. Let’s run some of them down, top five style.

5. November 15, 1981
Detroit Lions 27, Dallas Cowboys 24

Before there was Jason Hanson, there was Eddie Murray. Before there was Barry Sanders, there was Billy Sims. Both Murray and Sims were in fine form in beating the Cowboys in 1981. Sims led the way with 119 yards and one touchdown on the ground and one big catch for 81 yards to tie the game at 24 in the fourth quarter. Murray made three field goals on the day, the last of which was a game winner as time expired in one of the most harried plays game-winners in NFL history. Take a look:
