The Detroit Lions haven’t put a firm timetable on Nate Burleson‘s return. Burleson labeled himself a quick healer and while the cast has been off for a little while now, don’t look for him to play on Sunday. He told reporters yesterday that he won’t available for Sunday’s game against the Dallas Cowboys.

We can cross Sunday off as the return date and the next Sunday is gone as well because it is the team’s bye week. That well timed bye could mean Burleson will only miss one more game. He went on to say he is hoping to return after bye to face the Chicago Bears.

An interesting element to the timeline is the NFL trade deadline coming up on October 29. Will the Lions bust out that old line about Burleson’s return being their “trade” like the Tigers and Red Wings have used in the past? The Lions could use some help at wide receiver and the return of Burleson, as important as it is, might not be enough.
