The Detroit Lions were disappointed to lose Chris Greenwood when he was signed to the Dallas Cowboys‘ active roster. Now, they’re bringing him home.
The native-Detroiter and Lions’ 2012 fifth-round draft choice has cleared waivers after being released by the Cowboys and will rejoin the Lions’ practice squad tomorrow. It wasn’t because of a lack of offers as he reportedly had four practice squad offers to consider.
Injuries have stunted Greenwood’s development which was already expected to be a bit of a process. Making the jump from NCAA Division III to the NFL isn’t easy but the Lions loved Greenwood’s combination of size and athleticism. The process may be slower than they expected, but the potential the Lions saw in Greenwood as a draft prospect still exists today.
The Lions made one change in their practice squad roster earlier this week when Patrick Edwards was added and fullback Shaun Chapas was released. Expect the corresponding move to be announced tomorrow.
