Joseph Fauria has excelled as a red zone target for the Lions. He has caught a combined five touchdowns in three out of six games.
What will be something to look out for over the course of the next few weeks will be if the Lions expand Fauria’s playbook.
You can expect Fauria to receive an expanded role with the Lions over the next couple of weeks. Not only is he entitled to one after his three touchdown performance in last week’s game against the Cleveland Browns, but with questions surrounding Tony Scheffler’s health, his name instantly moves up the depth chart as the teams number two tight end behind Brandon Pettigrew.
Fauria has already succeeded, as an undrafted rookie. It will be interesting to see, with an expanded playbook, if he becomes more than just a successful rookie, but a successful NFL player. He has a great opportunity to show just that with making plays in the open field, helping the Lions offense move down the field.
