The Detroit Lions had a group of tight ends at the team’s practice facility today and they have signed Dorin Dickerson according to the player’s twitter account.

The Lions are without Tony Scheffler who is dealing with the effects of a concussion and Dickerson is a similar type player. At the 2010 pre-draft combine, Dickerson measured 6’2, 226 pounds and ran the 40-yard dash in 4.40 seconds.

Originally a seventh round pick of the Houston Texans, he has also spent time with the Pittsburgh Steelers, New England Patriots and Buffalo Bills.

A corresponding move hasn’t been announced but Jim Schwartz did not shoot down the possibility of Scheffler landing on injured reserve when speaking with reporters today.
