The Detroit Lions released their initial week four injury report following today’s practice and the team’s health is actually looking pretty good.
Nate Burleson (forearm) obviously wasn’t able to practice since he will be out for an extended period of time following his car accident that put him in surgery today. Louis Delmas (knee), Calvin Johnson (knee) and Rob Sims (shoulder) also missed practice but those should be seen as more precautionary.
The loss of Nate Burleson is a tough blow but the Lions appear to be getting healthier in some key areas. The biggest of which is at running back where Reggie Bush (knee) was listed as a full participant at today’s practice. The key now will be to see how the knee responds throughout the week but the fact that Bush wasn’t even limited is huge.
Ziggy Ansah (abdomen), Don Carey (hamstring), Patrick Edwards (ankle), Jason Fox (groin), DeAndre Levy (abdomen) and Ashlee Palmer (ankle) were all limited but did practice today. Getting Edwards back in the swing of things will go a long way towards easing the pain of having Burleson out of the lineup.
One name it is nice to not see on the injury report is Nick Fairley who has battled a shoulder issue the last couple weeks.
