Detroit Lions WR Nate Burleson Breaks Arm Because of Pizza

According to police, Detroit Lions wide receiver Nate Burleson’s accident was caused when Burleson “became distracted by an item falling off his front seat.”

Any driver knows the feeling and the natural reaction is to reach to keep the item, whatever it is, from flying across the car. However, like a knife dropped in the kitchen, the result of intervening can often be far more dangerous than letting the item go.

What was Burleson trying to prevent from falling? According to Dave Birkett of the Detroit Free Press, it was pizza.

So, instead of some wasted pizza and a modest cleaning bill, Burleson has a wrecked car and a broken arm that could cost him the rest of the season.

It obviously could have been much worse with Burleson hitting the center wall on I-696, but the entire incident could have been prevented by letting the pizza hit the car floor. Now all we can say is get well soon, Nate.

This team needs an exorcism. They are cursed.

Burleson was a gifted WR and great for the locker room. Now the Lions will need help immediately on the WR position. I think they will take a look at Massaquoi (SP) from Cleveland, a former Georgia receiver that was a favorite of Stafford’s at college.

Losing a pizza like that is the worst. I can’t blame him.
