There were a lot of low points for the 2012 Detroit Lions but the biggest to me was their 38-10 trouncing at the hands of the Arizona Cardinals.

Despite feelings that the Lions were somehow better than their record indicated, the team once again couldn’t get out of its own way and got pasted by a Cardinals team that entered the game with an identical 4-9 record.

Last week against the Vikings, the Lions showed real resolve in overcoming a number of obstacles. By the time the final whistle blew, there was no doubt who the better team was on that day. It was a display that showed this team is different from last year’s team. Sunday’s game against the Cardinals represents another opportunity to prove the point even further.

Let’s be honest, if the Lions are going to do anything this year they need to beat teams like the Cardinals on the road. It is an expectation.

It’s also an expectation of the folks in Las Vegas. The Lions have been installed as 1.5 point favorites to get the road win. At an over/under of 47.5 points, it is also expected to be one of the higher-scoring games of week two.

Doing their job and getting the win would go a long way towards erasing some bad memories of games in Arizona from years gone by.
