The Detroit Lions first game of the 2013 season is in the books, who should get the game ball?
A number of players deserve recognition for playing well, but Sunday’s win over the Vikings was all about Reggie Bush.
The Lions sold Bush on their vision for his role in the offense. We got a glimpse of the vanilla version in the preseason but yesterday we got the rainbow sherbet. And yes, it was delicious.
The Lions got the ball in Bush’s hands in a number of ways and Bush did not disappoint in showing the home run ability the Lions were looking for. Bush lit up the box score but it was his electrifying 77-yard touchdown reception that was the memorable play of the day.
Reggie Bush wasn’t a great fit for the Miami Dolphins and many have questioned Bush’s ability to be a featured back. Bbut the Lions are looking to make better use of Bush’s skill-set and have maintained that he is their clear number one running back since signing him in March. Every bit of the plan and their belief in Bush was on display against the Vikings. In fact, Bush got more carries than Adrian Peterson. Who would have guessed that would happen?
