Detroit Lions vs. Minnesota Vikings: Brennaman and Billick to Call Game for Fox

The Detroit Lions and Minnesota Vikings aren’t the only teams who will be at Ford Field on Sunday. The third important team is the broadcast team. With Fox set to broadcast a rather pedestrian slate of games in week one, the network’s number three team will be in Detroit.

Fox’s third team remains intact from previous years. Thom Brennaman, who hasn’t always been the most popular with Lions fans, will do the play-by-play. Brennaman will be joined in the booth by former Ravens coach Brian Billick while Laura Okmin reports from the sidelines.

Based on where they are sending their broadcast teams, Fox considers Packers-49ers and Falcons-Saints as bigger games. Hard to argue.

Fans in the Detroit and Minneapolis markets will get the same slate of games from CBS and Fox this week. In addition to Vikings-Lions, CBS will air Cincinnati at Chicago (Jim Nantz, Phil Simms) in the early time slot while Fox will air Green Bay at San Francisco (Joe Buck, Troy Aikman) to both areas.
