The Detroit Lions don’t like to talk about injuries unless they have to. For the first time this season, the Lions finally have to.
The league mandates that injury reports are made public each week beginning on Wednesday. The first injury report was released minutes ago and it confirms what has been suspected concerning Ziggy Ansah. He suffered a concussion.
Ansah did not travel with the team to Buffalo for the preseason finale after a hard collision with a teammate in a practice on August 24. He returned to practice but left after warm ups the following day and hasn’t practiced since. He was at practice yesterday assisting with drills and was seen running with a trainer today but he hasn’t resumed practicing with his teammates.
Other than Ansah, the Lions are in good shape health-wise. Louis Delmas (knee) is the only other player to appear on the injury report. Delmas was listed as limited in today’s practice, no surprise considering how the Lions have approached the situation from the start of training camp to give Delmas the best possible shot at playing in 16 regular season games for the first time in his career.
The injury report will be updated on Thursday and Friday with game designations determined at the end of the week.
