The Detroit Lions held a number of players out of practice and game action as the preseason schedule came to a close but Jim Schwartz insisted that none of the injuries were long-term. Tight end Michael Williams‘ season came to an end as he landed on injured reserve as the Lions made their final cuts, bringing Schwartz’s comments into question, however the Lions were nearly at full strength at practice today.
Rookie defensive end Ziggy Ansah and running back Montell Owens were the only Lions to not practice today.

Owens, who was injured against the New England Patriots, will be placed on short-term IR later today. The Lions haven’t addressed Ansah’s condition, although he is believed to have suffered a concussion.
Ansah did not travel with the team to Buffalo last week but he was present at practice today and he was able to at least assist with position group drills:

The Lions have chosen to remain silent on Ansah’s condition, as is their right for now. That changes tomorrow when the first league-mandated injury report is released.
