The college football season has arrived, and with it the chance for Lions fans to zone in on 2014 draft prospects. Here are three to keep an eye on in tonight’s Labor Day conference matchup between Florida St. and ACC newcomer, Pittsburgh:

Aaron Donald (#97), DT, Pittsburgh – Jr.

Listed at 6-0, 275, Donald lacks prototypical height and bulk for the position, but is a high motor player who led the Big East in TFL with 18.5. With active hands and nice burst, he may possess the versatility to work both inside and out on the defensive line.

Christian Jones (#7), LB, Florida St.

Senior Christian Jones leads a talented linebacking core for the Seminoles. At 6-4, 232, Jones finished the 2012 season with 95 tackles, 7 TFL and 3 passes defensed. A versatile defender, Jones has experience at both SLB and WLB and is expected to make the move to MLB in defensive coordinator Jeremy Pruitt’s scheme. Jones is a great athlete with the speed to be a three down defender.

Lamarcus Joyner (#20), CB, Florida St.

Versatility is also the name of the game for Joyner who, after starting 27 consecutive games at strong safety, is likely to transition to CB for his senior season. At 5-8, 195, Joyner lacks the size the Lions are looking for in a cornerback prospect, but is a hard hitter with excellent range. In addition to his role as a leader in the secondary, Joyner brings added value as one of the top kick returners in FSU history.
