The Detroit Lions have carefully managed the knee of Loius Delams throughout training camp. Part of that plan led to him being held out of the team’s preseason opener against the New York Jets last Friday night.
Will Lions fans get a chance to see Delmas on the field Thursday when preseason play continues against the Cleveland Browns? From comments made by Delmas today, it doesn’t sound like it:
Louis Delmas on the preseason: “Is it important for me to get out there? Yes. But is it wise? Right now I don’t think so.”

While it sounds like the plan will call for Delmas to play in the preseason at some point, we probably shouldn’t expect that to be this week. With the third preseason game annually set up as the dress rehearsal while the fourth preseason game ends up virtually meaningless for players surely on the roster, it would seem that the August 22 game against the New England Patriots could be the first and only preseason appearance for Delmas. Stay tuned.
