Betting and football just go together. Some might not call a preseason game real football but that doesn’t mean fans can’t do some real betting on it.

I’m not sure what kind of a person bets on a preseason football game, especially the first of the year, but sports books have put out betting lines and I’m sure they will be glad to take your money.

If you’re looking for action on the game between the Detroit Lions and New York Jets on Friday night, the Lions are sitting as 3.5 point favorites, down slightly from the 4 point favorites I saw them listed as yesterday. The over/under is set at 36 total points.

The Massey Ratings, one of the computer components of the BCS, likes the Lions to beat the Jets with a most likely score of 24-20. Interesting? Maybe… but are you willing to bet on it?
