The Detroit Lions began training camp without wide reciver/special teamer Devin Thomas, guard Leroy Harris and defensive end Ronnell Lewis. Thomas and Harris were unable to practice due to their place on the PUP list while Lewis was in a similar position on the non-football injury (NFI).
Harris and Lewis returned last week, leaving Thomas as the lone member of the roster unable to practice. That changed today when Thomas emerged from the building with helmet in hand to join his teammates on the practice field as more than an observer for the first time.
Now able to practice, Thomas begins the fight for a roster spot. While he entered the league as a wide receiver he has been far more impactful as a special teams player and that will likely be the route he needs to take to win a spot on the final 53-man roster.
