The Detroit Lions are through four training camp practices and while little has been settled in the way of position battles, the picture is taking shape.
Here is a look at six positions where jobs are still up for grabs.
Larry Warford became the presumed starter after the Lions drafted him in the third round last April but Warford still needs to actually win the job. He got some first team reps for the first time yesterday but Dylan Gandy, Jake Scott and Rodney Austin have also received time running with the ones. With Leroy Harris coming off the PUP list, the number of players competing for the starting right guard job will grow to five.
Jason Fox has received most of the first team reps as he looks to beat out Corey Hilliard as the Lions starting right tackle but it is too early to call a winner. Whoever loses the job figures to be the primary backup at both tackle positions but Fox and Hilliard have only been working on the right side so far. Fox may be ahead, but Hilliard still has a chance. Don’t be surprised if both players get a chance to start at least one preseason game before a final decision is made.
