Detroit Lions Still Looking for Defensive Tackle Depth

The Detroit Lions have rolled a solid four-man rotation at defensive tackle the past few season but the holes created by the departures of Corey Williams and Sammie Hill haven’t fully been filled.

C.J. Mosley was added via free agency but that leaves one very important spot available.

Drew recently worked out for the New England Patriots and was set to join the team until they changed course and signed Anthony Rashad White instead. To put it simply, Drew has a past:

Drew was at N.C. Central because he was kicked out of Duke for his involvement in firing a gun on campus, said. In 2010 Drew plead guilty to possessing a firearm on educational property and carrying a concealed weapon, said. According to The Herald-Sun, Drew and two other teammates had 45-day sentences suspended in favor of 12 months of supervised probation, 140 hours of community service, a $500 fine and court costs.

Bernard is an 11-year veteran who has played for the Seattle Seahawks and New York Giants. He has played in 160 games in his NFL career, mostly as a rotational player and wasn’t a total disaster last year, ranking 55th in the defensive tackle rankings on Pro Football Focus.

The Lions worked out Justin Bannan earlier in the week but he left team facilities without a contract.

One other name to keep in mind is Corey Williams. He has not signed with a team as of yet and could be an option if the Lions are comfortable with his health.
