The Detroit Lions haven’t formally announced the various themes and celebrations they will celebrate on game days during the 2013 season. However, season tickets were delivered to a number of fans so that information is out in the public.

Here is a look at the themes/celebrations for 2013:

August 22 vs. New England Patriots – Heads Up Football/USA Football
September 8 vs. Minnesota Vikings – Back to Football
September 29 vs. Chicago Bears – Futbol Americano (Celebrating Hispanic heritage month)
October 20 vs. Cincinnati Bengals – A Crutial Catch (breast cancer awareness)
October 27 vs. Dallas Cowboys – Detroit Lions Alumni Game
November 24 vs. Tampa Bay Buccaneers – Salute to Service
November 28 vs. Green Bay Packers – NFL Play 60, 74th Annual Thanksgiving Day Classic
December 16 vs. Baltimore Ravens – NFL Homecoming Weekend

The Houston Texans were the subject of some internet jollies earlier in the day when their website listed their home game against the New England Patriots as simply “homecoming”. It looks like they might need to be let off the hook if in fact this is a league-wide initiative, as suggested by the Lions game against the Ravens being designated as part of “NFL Homecoming Weekend”.

The Lions are still only selling tickets as part of season ticket packages. Single game tickets went on sale on July 10 a year ago so it would seem fans will be able to buy tickets individually in the near future. When contacted last week a representative from the Detroit Lions ticket office indicated that a date for individual ticket sales had not yet been determined.
