The Detroit Lions received universal praise for signing free agent defensive lineman Israel Idonije on Tuesday. All that came before the financial terms of the one-year deal were known.
Now those financial details are known thanks to Dave Birkett:
In less interesting news, the #Lions got good value in Idonije. He signed a minimum salary benefit deal. $65k bonus.

While the free agent market for Idonije’s services was definitely soft, he was receiving interest from some teams other than the Lions. It is obviously good news the Lions got their guy, but it is doubly good news to know they didn’t have to outbid anyone to get the deal done.
The Lions have just under $2 million in cap space remaining – only a couple teams have less. However, the Lions have all their draft picks under contract and have completed their shopping list. Now it is time to get the guys on the field to see how the battles for roster spots and playing time shake out.
