The NFL is king of promotion and they have masterfully crafted their yearly schedule to stay on the mind of fans all year. Some scoffed when ESPN started broadcasting the NFL Draft in their early years. Now the draft plays out in primetime.
It’s that level of promotion mastery that leads to things like announcements of announcements being newsworthy. The NFL was thought to be releasing the regular season schedule this evening until recently. However, we won’t have long to wait until it actually happens:

While the schedule release will fill in the “when” part of the equation, we already know the “who”. In fact, we’ve known the Lions’ list of 2013 opponents since late December.
Home games: Chicago Bears, Green Bay Packers, Minnesota Vikings, Dallas Cowboys, New York Giants, Baltimore Ravens, Cincinnati Bengals, Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Road games: Chicago Bears, Green Bay Packers, Minnesota Vikings, Philadelphia Eagles, Washington Redskins, Cleveland Browns, Pittsburgh Steelers, Arizona Cardinals
Team president Tom Lewand indicated a hope the Monday Night Football or Sunday Night Football crew would return to Ford Field during the 2013 season but did not indicate he had any information that would happen.
SideLion Report will post the schedule as soon as it has been released so be sure to stop by shortly after 9 p.m. ET on Thursday night.
