Yesterday’s announcement of compensatory draft picks in the 2013 NFL Draft brings the Detroit Lions’ total number of picks up from six to eight.

The Lions received two compensatory picks, which cannot be traded. One near the end of the fourth round as a result of losing Eric Wright to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and one in the seventh round for losing Drew Stanton.

The Lions are without their original fourth round pick due to a 2012 draft day trade with the Minnesota Vikings in which the Lions acquired a pick to select linebacker Tahir Whitehead.
