Jason Jones was the first free agent visitor the Detroit Lions brought in and he is now officially the first to sign.
DT Jason Jones agreed to a deal with the Lions, according to his agent, Mike McCartney.

This is a homecoming for Jones. He went to Southfiled Lathrup High School before playing his college ball at Eastern Michigan.
Jones is the kind of versatile defensive lineman the Lions love. He could help add depth to the Lions’ defensive end rotation or fill one of the rotational defensive tackle spots behind Ndamukong Suh and Nick Fairley. While he has had some issues with shoulder and knee injuries, Jones has been productive and should continue to be so in the Lions system which is flexible enough to use defensive linemen in a variety of ways.
Aside from fitting a team need, Jones is a natural fit based on his connections to the coaching staff. He was originally drafted by the Tennessee Titans in 2008 when Jim Schwartz was their defensive coordinator and he has also played under new defensive line coach Jim Washburn.
