The Detroit Lions, and all other NFL teams, are now permitted to be in contact with the agents of players who will become free agents on March 12.
Teams can’t be in contact with the players, so it remains to be seen how much free agency work actually gets done before it officially opens, but you can bet front offices around the league will be working the weekend to get a feel for the market.
