The Detroit Lions brought Louis Delmas in for a medical check this afternoon but he left team facilities without an agreement in place and every intention of testing the free agent market.
In speaking with Detroit Free Press beat writer Dave Birkett, Delmas characterized himself as a girlfriend waiting at home while the boyfriend (the Lions) are out at the club. It’s a strange analogy and it turns out it might not be completely true.
According to NFL.com’s Albert Breer, the Lions do have an offer on the table.
Louis Delmas has an offer from the Lions, but plans to hit the market and weigh his options in the coming days.

It seems the Lions have actually invited Delmas to go to the club with them but he has chosen to decline so far. That’s his right, but the Lions also shouldn’t be forced into putting an offer they aren’t comfortable with on the table. Delmas has not played a full 16-game schedule since joining the Lions four years ago. That’s a factor the Lions need to build into their offer and it seems they are doing just that.
