Dee Milliner was already a popular pick for the Detroit Lions in mock drafts and don’t be surprised if that pick becomes even more commonplace in post-combine mocks.
It was the defensive backs’ turn to run the 40-yard dash today and Milliner turned in quite a performance.
#Alabama CB Dee Milliner’s two 40 times: 4.37, 4.31. Sick speed for a built-up, 6-foot, 201-pound corner.

Gunther Cunningham has made comments about getting bigger at cornerback and Milliner helps accomplish that while also giving the Lions more speed in the secondary. Sounds like a win-win.
I have been critical of Milliner as the Lions’ choice with the fifth overall pick but I will admit that seeing these 40 times is a bit of a game-changer for me. And I say that as someone who doesn’t like to overreact or put too much stock into individual combine drills.
Martin Mayhew admitted to trying to trade up in the 2011 draft to take Patrick Peterson. Looks like he may be able to get a similar prospect just by standing pat in the 2013 first round.
