The month of May got off to a shocking start when news broke that legendary linebacker Junior Seau had died after shooting himself. Seau was and still is one of the first players to pop into my mind when I think of NFL linebackers and his death shook the entirety of the league, not just the fanbases for which he played during his long NFL career.

The Detroit Lions went about the business of signing their draft picks and held their annual rookie mini camp the second week of May.

The veterans got back on the field later in the month when organized team activities began. While that should have all been good news it was dampened by news that Titus Young had been banned from the team facility for punching Louis Delmas.

It was perhaps the most troubling in a string of incidents involving young Lions and obviously turned out to be a sign of things to come.
