2012 got started with a lot of excitement for the Detroit Lions as they geared up for their first playoff game since the 1999 season. The loss to the Saints ended the Lions season but the future looked bright with Matthew Stafford and Calvin Johnson forging a special connection down the stretch. Not only that, Jahvid Best said he was feeling good and would ‘definitely be back‘ next year.

With the season over, the Lions turned their attention towards the offseason. They knew there was a difficult task ahead with so many key players heading towards free agency. The draft talk started up and the running back position was a hot topic from the very beginning.

The NFL’s deal with Nike to be the exclusive uniform provided didn’t kick in until April but that didn’t keep the Nike hype machine from releasing a few details about what was coming.
