Detroit Lions Sending Just One to the Pro Bowl

The NFL announced the 2013 Pro Bowl rosters this evening and one member of the Detroit Lions has earned a trip to Hawaii.

Calvin Johnson has made the Pro Bowl for the third time in his career. He was previously a Pro Bowler following the 2010 and 2011 seasons. Megatron was named a starter thanks to a vote by fans, players and coaches.

Ndamukong Suh and Matthew Stafford have been named alternates.

Stafford was a prominent snub for last years game and the same can be said about Suh this time around. Suh leads all NFC defensive tackles in sacks with seven and has been more of a disruptive force this year like he was as a rookie when was named to the NFC squad. Justin Smith, Henry Melton and Gerald McCoy will be the NFC’s defensive tackles this year.

The Titans, Raiders, Chargers, Bills, Rams, Eagles, Panthers, Jaguars do not have any players named to the initial Pro Bowl rosters.

The 2013 Pro Bowl will be played at Aloha Stadium in Honolulu on Sunday, January 27, 2013 – one week before Super Bowl XLVII.
