Detroit Lions Put Jacob Lacey on Injured Reserve

The Detroit Lions attrition-filled season in their secondary continues. This time is is Jacob Lacey who is done for the season after the team put him on injured reserve today due to a kneecap injury.

Lacey joins a lengthy list of casualties in the Lions secondary. Cornerbacks Bill Bentley and Chris Greenwood landed on IR earlier in the season, as did safety Amari Spievey. Drayton Florence spent some time on IR, although the team used their one-time exemption to allow him to return later in the season.

The Lions have signed cornerback Ron Bartell to fill Lacey’s spot on the roster. Bartell spent seven season with the St. Louis Rams before being released during the last offseason. He signed with the Oakland Raiders prior to this season but was released earlier this month.

Bartell is a Detroit-native and played his college ball at Howard. He was originally a second-round draft pick of the Rams in 2005 and has started 70 games over the course of his career.
