Matthew Stafford joined Mike Valenti and Terry Foster for his normal weekly spot on 97.1 The Ticket today and it didn’t take long to realize that more than the disappointment of yesterday’s loss was responsible for the way he sounded.

It came out later in the interview that Stafford is dealing with a case of bronchitis.

When the illness set in isn’t known as it hasn’t been mentioned by any of the Lions beat reporters that see Stafford on a daily basis. All we know is that Stafford did not appear on the injury report at all last week so his practice reps weren’t impacted by any illness and Stafford didn’t appear to be adversely affected by anything during Sunday’s game against the Colts.

At this point it doesn’t seem like anything to worry about but it will be one more thing to watch for when the first injury report is released on Wednesday afternoon.

With game time temperatures at Lambeau Field next week expected to be in the thrities, the cold air might actually help Stafford if he is indeed experiencing the respiratory symptoms that typically come with a case of bronchitis.
