Detroit Lions to be Without Louis Delmas Against Jaguars

The return of Louis Delmas to the Detroit Lions defense has paid dividends so far. He brings a level of energy that was notably absent on the field while Delmas was out after knee surgery and it is no surprise that his return to face the Eagles coincided with one of the Lions’ most spirited defensive efforts of the year.

The knee is acting up again and while an MRI revealed no structural damage, Delmas did not practice all week and has already been ruled out of Sunday’s game against the Jacksonville Jaguars.

The Lions secondary will be thin. Cornerback Bill Bentley was placed on injured reserve earlier this seek and safety Amari Spievey has also been ruled out this week.

The good news is that the Lions may get DeAndre Levy back in the lineup. He missed last week’s game but was able to get back to practice on a limited basis this week and is listed as questionable to play. Also listed as questionable is Calvin Johnson. Megatron did not practice at all this week to rest his ailing knee.

Cliff Avril (back), Justin Durant (quad), Jacob Lacey (concussion), Brandon Pettigrew (knee), Stephen Tulloch (knee), Corey Williams (knee) and Titus Young (knee) were also named on the final week 9 injury report and listed as probable to face the Jaguars.
