The trade deadline deal that would have swapped Jerome Harrison and Ronnie Brown between the Detroit Eagles and Philadelphia Eagles proved that having players take a physical is an important part of the process and much more than a formality.
The news is much better concerning this year’s deadline deal. The Lions announced that wide receiver Mike Thomas has passed his physical and the trade with the Jaguars is now official. The Jaguars will receive a fifth round pick in the 2014 draft in return.
With the trade official, Thomas will likely be with his new teammates on the practice field today and figures to be active to face his former team on Sunday.
The trade deadline is today at 4 p.m. and it has been speculated that the Lions could make another trade, this time for help at safety.
