Week 7 in the NFC North is in the books. Here is a look at all the week 7 action in the NFC North and a look at the standings and week eight schedule.
Green Bay Packers 30, St. Louis Rams 20 (box score)
The Green Bay Packers offense had trouble moving the ball on the ground but Aaron Rodgers had another stellar day through the air. He completed 30 of 37 passes for 342 yards, three touchdowns and no interceptions. Jordy Nelson and Randall Cobb caught eight passes apiece while James Jones added another six. It was Cobb’s 39-yard touchdown catch with 3:06 remaining that put the Packers up by 14 points and essentially ended the Rams’ hopes of pulling off an upset.
Minnesota Vikings 21, Arizona Cardinals 14 (box score)
Christian Ponder completed just eight passes for 58 yards on the day but the Vikings offense got what they needed from Adrian Peterson. He finished with 153 yards on 23 carries with one touchdown. Rookie safety Harrison Smith intercepted John Skelton and returned it 31 yards for a touchdown for what turned out to be the game winning score. The Vikings defense sacked Skelton seven times.
Chicago Bears 13, Detroit Lions 7 (box score)
The Detroit Lions squandered a solid defensive effort with lackluster offensive play and red zone turnovers. Mikel Leshoure and Joique Bell each coughed up the ball deep in Bears territory to negate what could have been scoring drives and a Matthew Stafford desperation throw on fourth down late in the game went for an interception instead of a touchdown. Leshoure’s fumble overshadowed what was otherwise a solid performance by the rookie running back. The Bears defense did a masterful job limiting the Lions’ offensive weapons. Calvin Johnson had five catches for just 37 yards.
