Players on the Detroit Lions’ PUP list are eligible to come back to practice this week. Jim Schwartz was asked about the plan for each player during his press conference today and while the plan for one is quite clear, the future for the other remains uncertain.
Rookie cornerback Chris Greenwood will join his teammates at practice this week. The coaching staff will evaluate his readiness to join the 53-man roster. If all goes well he could be activated.
Asked about Jahvid Best, Schwartz described himself as “out of the loop” and provided no further update. Best underwent a series of tests a week ago to determine his ability to return and while it was thought an update might be available by last Friday, no news has been released, apparently even to Schwartz.
Fans hoping to see Best play next Monday night will be disappointed by the lack of news. However, it has been clear that the situation is being handled with extreme care and Best’s health in the long and short term is top priority.
