The Detroit Lions have made a practice of revealing as little information regarding injuries as possible but they were quite forthcoming with the latest on Jahvid Best today. Best underwent a series of tests on Monday and could learn the results tomorrow.
If cleared for football activities, Best could come off the PUP list next week to be eligible to practice and play the following Monday night against the Chicago Bears. He’s been able to work out on his own and is reportedly in the best shape of his life.
Jim Schwartz expressed hope for good news but knows it is out of his control:
Hopefully, we get good news, and when he’s eligible to come off PUP, he’s able to do that. But we can’t force that issue, we can’t have anything to do with that issue.
Best’s return could be just the jolt the Lions offense needs. With so many defenses playing two deep safeties and giving the Lions a lot of room underneath, a speedy back like Best could become a real weapon and open up more opportunities down the field.
