Detroit Lions Return from Bye as Underdogs Against Philadelphia Eagles

The Detroit Lions will be coming off their bye week while the Eagles will be heading into their bye when the two sides meet on Sunday afternoon. The Eagles’ 3-2 start has them tied with the Giants for the top spot in the NFC East while the Lions have some work to do to climb out of a 1-3 hole. Needless to say, this will be an important game for both sides.

The early betting line gives the Eagles a five and a half point edge over the Lions. It’s an interesting line considering the way these two teams have performed so far this year. The Lions are 0-4 against the spread including 0-1 as a road underdog. The 5.5 points seems like a lot for the Eagles to give considering their three wins have come by a combined four points.

Something has to give on Sunday. Which way would you bet?

This is a tough line. On one hand, the Eagles are 3-2 and 2-0 at home with wins over the Ravens and Giants which is impressive. Yet you would think that the Lions may have the advantage with having the bye week. However, they were thumped last year by the Bears in Chicago after their bye week.

Tough choice, I’ll go with the Lions covering the spread, but losing the game (please prove me wrong).
