The Detroit Lions raced out to a 21-0 first quarter lead and took a 17 point lead into halftime but needed a late defensive stand to seal the victory. Joe Webb came on in relief of Christian Ponder and proved to be a spark plug with his feet. A scare is all the Vikings’ effort amounted to as the Lions hung on for a 34-28 win. It was the first of three straight wins that wrapped up a playoff berth for the Lions.
