Will Matthew Stafford practice? It’s the question we’ve all been wondering and we have our answer now that the Lions are back on the practice field.

The answer is no.

The good news is that multiple observers noted that there was no obvious sign of injury as Stafford watched practice. Free Press beat writer Dave Birkett tweeted that he is still betting on Stafford to start on Sunday against the Vikings.

ESPN’s NFC North blogger Kevin Seifert had a particularly good perspective on the situation:

It’s not unusual for injured players to skip practice during the week and still make their regular start. All we know at this point is Stafford’s injury is significant enough to make rest more valuable than practice time.

Classify today’s news as reason for cautious optimism.

Louis Delmas, Travis Lewis, Tony Scheffler, Corey Williams and Titus Young also missed practice today. The first official injury report of the week will be released later this afternoon.
