Detroit Lions cornerback Drayton Florence landed on the short-term injured reserve list last week thanks to a broken arm he suffered against the San Francisco 49ers. Short-term IR is new this year and can be used once to free a roster and still have the injured player return to the team later in the season.
Drayton Florence will need to miss a number of weeks but the expectation is that he will be well enough to play again later this season. That hope is boosted by news that Florence’s surgery went well. He used Twitter to announce the surgery’s success last night and took the opportunity to post a picture of the post-surgery x-ray as well.
With the bone now set to heal properly, it just needs time.
