Good news, you can forget about watching your favorite news network on election night. All you need to do is watch the Detroit Lions game against the Seattle Seahawks on October 28 to know who will win the election.
How is that possible? Well, technically it isn’t but there is one rule that has held true to link the final Lions game before a presidential election to the result of that election.
If Detroit’s opponent is charged with at least 20 percent more penalties than Detroit in the last home game before the election, the Republican wins. Otherwise, the Democrat wins.
That rule has held for the last 13 presidential elections.
Yahoo! News columnist Chris Wilson put together a piece in which he comes up with a rule for every team in the NFL. It turns out that the Seahawks’ rule comes into play during the third to last game before the election so it will be all about the Lions when the two teams face each other in late October.
Some of the “rules” have already come into play with the Romney result holding a 4-2 advantage.
