Word got out yesterday that the Detroit Lions and free agent cornerback Drayton Florence were heading towards a match when Lions wide receiver/special teamer Kassim Osgood tweeted to that effect. Nothing was official as of yesterday but it is now.
CB Drayton Florence is now a Lion, according to league source. Team has not announced a transaction to make room for him on roster.

Adding Drayton Florence may cost rookie cornerback Jonte Green his spot on the 53-man roster. If so, he would be a prime candidate to fill one of the Lions’ two remaining spots on their practice squad.
Florence signed with the Broncos in the offseason so this isn’t exactly what he was expecting to be going through at this point in the year but he appears determined to make the most of this opportunity. From his twitter account this afternoon:
A setback is nothing but a setup for a comeback < Detroit Lions > let’s get ready for St. Louis

The Lions had already nearly completely overhauled their cornerbacks from a year ago before adding Drayton Florence. Chris Houston is the only member of the group that was with the Lions a year ago. The team drafted Bill Bentley, Chris Greenwood (PUP list) and Jonte Green in April, signed Jacob Lacey in free agency and traded for Kevin Barnes during the preseason.
