Detroit Lions wide receiver and special teams ace Kassim Osgood was once teammates with cornerback Drayton Florence when the two were with the San Diego Chargers. According to a tweet from Osgood, the two are reuniting as teammates in Detroit.

Florence was initially seen as a key offseason pickup for the Denver Broncos but found himself among the final cuts yesterday. It’s not surprising the Lions would be interested in a player like Florence after cutting Alphonso Smith yesterday. Jonte Green survived the cuts yesterday but might be on the chopping block with Drayton Florence coming to town. Ricardo Silva is another cut candidate depending on how much time at safety the Lions are willing to give Kevin Barnes and the health status of Louis Delmas.

A second round pick by the San Diego Chargers in 2003, Florence also played for the Jaguars and Bills. He made 16 starts in each of the last two seasons for the Bills and has 17 career interceptions.

[update: It's not a done deal just yet so Osgood's tweet may be premature. That being said, things could be official before the weekend ends.]
