Football practice was held at Ford Field today but it wasn’t by the stadium’s usual tenant. The usual Honolulu blue and silver uniforms were replaced by maize and blue.
The University of Michigan football team used Ford Field as a way to replicate the stadium experience they will find at Cowboys Stadium when they play the Alabama Crimson Tide in ten days.
Wolverines head coach Brady Hoke had the following to say about the field trip when he met with the media yesterday:
We’re going to go down there and change the environment up a little bit. I think it’s good for us, have some distractions that are built in when you do that. We’ve been doing some crowd noise with music. I think AC/DC was on today.
How much benefit holding practice at Ford Field brings remains to be seen but the opportunity clearly excited the players. Many tweeted in anticipation of today’s practice.
