Jim Schwartz likes to talk about breaking down the season into four quarters. Well, the team got off to a horrendous start to the final quarter of Jim Schwartz’s first season as Lions head coach with a 48-3 drubbing in Baltimore. It was such a bad performance that the first thing Schwartz did in his postgame press conference was make sure that no one would be airing his comments live. It was a frustrating day and nothing Schwartz tried to do seemed to work. He had this to say, “I didn’t like the fact that the ball was getting run right down our throats and I called the team over and let them know how upset I was going to be if they scored a touchdown there. I tried to rally them and see if that would make a difference. Obviously, it didn’t.”
The Ravens put up 548 total yards on offense, including over 300 on the ground. Daunte Culpepper and the rest of the Lions offense could only muster 229 yards of their own. More than egos were hurt on that day. Kevin Smith went down with a torn ACL that cost him the rest of the season
