Today’s running back news was on the positive side for Mike Leshoure as he returned to individual news but the new regarding Jahvid Best isn’t looking good.
Lions RB Jahvid Best is likely to start this season on physically unable to perform list, which would sideline him at least first six games.

While we’re still a ways from that decision becoming final, especially since the Lions remain tight-lipped on the subject, it’s a big development considering it, by rule, keep Jahvid Best out of the first six games. Gone would be the week-to-week guessing game. It would be simple: no Jahvid Best until at least game seven (which happens to be an October 28 game against the Seahawks at Ford Field).
Starting the season on the PUP list would give some immediate clarity to the situation because of the mandatory six game rest but it doesn’t do anything to answer the questions the team and Best face in the long term. It is obvious the effects of his previous concussion are serious. When he does get back on the field, who is to say all involved won’t get put through this long process all over again? The Lions may enter the next offseason with just as many questions at running back as the last offseason.
